In Season 2, Fringe went musical for the episode “Brown Betty.” In Season 3, the Fox drama got animated for “Lysergic Acid Diethylamide.” And this Friday, Fringe is doing something weird again with “Letters of Transit.” I don’t know much about the episode beyond what’s in the network synopsis: “In the year 2036, the Fringe team takes on the Observers in a war that will change everything.” But whaaaaaaaaat?
Fringe has jumped into the future before. In the Season 3 finale, Peter woke up in the year 2026 and all hell was breaking loose. But 2036? Observers? War? “Letters of Transit” has all the makings of being a real brain-squisher. And just to soften your cerebellum in preparation, Fox has released four short teasers for the episode (their total runtime is just shy of a 90 seconds). Holy what what!? These are crazy!
They appear to portray some sort of Orwellian future where citizens are under the control of a Draconian governing body. And yep, that’s Henry Ian Cusick (a.k.a. Desmond from Lost) making a guest appearance. For a better grasp of what’s ahead, check out the promo below, which aired after last week’s episode. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask FringeFanatic, who I’m sure will be holding class in the comments.
