indie horror, new poster for ‘House at the End of the Street’

With CinemaCon kicking off today, plenty of studios are debuting new posters for promotion. While we’ve seen plenty so far, anotehr new one surfaced as Relativity launched a new one-sheet for their upcoming horror film House at the End of the Street. Starring Jennifer Lawrence, the film looks to be another one using the big starlet to their advantage. Now, the studio has released the all new poster online for everyone to see.

Along with the poster, Relativity also released an all-new synopsis:

Seeking a fresh start, newly divorced Sarah (Oscar®-nominee Elisabeth Shue; Leaving Las Vegas, Piranha 3D) and her daughter Elissa (Oscar®-nominee Jennifer Lawrence; The Hunger Games, X-Men: First Class) find the house of their dreams in a small, upscale, rural town. But when startling and unexplainable events begin to happen, Sarah and Elissa learn the town is in the shadows of a chilling secret. Years earlier, in the house next door, a daughter killed her parents in their beds, and disappeared – leaving only a brother, Ryan (Max Thieriot, My Soul to Take), as the sole survivor. Against Sarah’s wishes, Elissa begins a relationship with the reclusive Ryan – and the closer they get, the deeper they’re all pulled into a mystery more dangerous than they ever imagined.

While the trailer didn’t exactly excite people, especially with its time’s turning method, it’s hard to say just what the film will be. While it seems like it could be a surprise hit, especially with Lawrence attached, if there’s the chance it does turn out to be typical horror dribble, no one will really remember other than a blip on Lawrence’s blooming career radar. The five month delay from April to it’s now current release doesn’t exactly sound promising either, but perhaps Lawrence can actually take something drastically different that she hasn’t done before and turn it into something great.

House at the End of the Street, directed by Mark Tonderai and scripted by Jonathan Mostow & David Louka, opens on September 21st.
